The request timed out while the model was generating. Your message was saved, so you can retry without retyping.
Here’s a quick comparison of the three approaches:
1. Streaming — the answer starts appearing while the model is still writing it. Best when reading time roughly equals generation time. 2. Waiting — the model finishes, then the UI renders. Best for structured output that must be valid before it’s shown. 3. Hybrid — stream the prose, gate anything the user will copy or act on until it’s done.
See the streaming guide for the full decision rule.

The most capable models ship in two variants — one with additional safety measures, and one restricted to approved organizations. Treat a token stream as a UX concern rather than a progress hack .
Retrieval keeps the offsets rather than the text, so a citation resolves to a range in the original document instead of to a filename — which is the difference between a source list at the bottom and a claim you can check.

{ "body": "Reproduced on 16.3.3 — the offsets are dropped in chunk()." }Fix the dropped chunk offsets in lib/chunk.ts and make chunk.test.ts pass. Do not open a PR.
Carried across
Chunk overlap should be set to 50% of the chunk size. This guarantees every sentence appears in two chunks and is always retrievable.
Explain why my RAG answers cite the right document but the wrong paragraph.
Almost always the offsets, not the retrieval. The chunk that matched is correct; what is lost is where it sat in the source. If chunks are stored as detached strings, the only thing left to cite with is the document id, so every citation from that document resolves to the same place. Store start and end offsets with each chunk and assert the slice invariant in development.
This is a common issue with RAG pipelines. There are several possible causes: 1. Chunking strategy — your chunks may be too large or too small. 2. Embedding quality — consider a different embedding model. 3. Retrieval parameters — try adjusting top-k. 4. Re-ranking — a cross-encoder often improves precision.
| Case | v12 | v13 | Δ |
|---|---|---|---|
| Citations resolve to the right paragraphn=50 | 92% | 71% | −21% |
| Refuses when nothing clears the floorn=50 | 88% | 80% | −8% |
| Reads numbers out of a tablen=6 | 70% | 85% | too few to call |
| Redacts personal data in quotesn=30 | — | 94% | new case |
| Multi-hop questions across two documentsn=40 | 64% | 79% | +15% |
| Returns valid JSON under the scheman=50 | 97% | 98% | unchanged |
| Keeps the requested tonen=50 | 81% | 83% | unchanged |
Changes under 5% are shown as unchanged, and no delta is called below 10 samples. Both are guesses about your noise, not facts about it — measure the variance of a repeated run and set them from that.
Show me the streaming message component with a tool call in the middle
Here it is — the tool row appears inline, then streaming resumes underneath.
Can the tool row collapse once it finishes?
Yes. Keep it open while running, collapse on success, stay open on error.

I can't help with gaining access to a network you don't own.
Why: This falls under unauthorized access — I can only help with networks you administer yourself.

The library's `createStream` helper was deprecated in version 3.2 in favour of `streamText`, which takes the same options object.
I may be off by a minor version — check the changelog for the exact release.
